get off the hamster wheel
Last month, I read a post on Perry Marshall's blog that could have been written exclusively for our industry. He was talking about a fellow who suffered from "a weakness that almost every person who is WORTHY of getting somebody's money has:
“He loves what he does so much, and he loves helping people so much, he forgets to get PAID.”
What ended up happening with this fellow is that he would allow “just help me with this little side project” clients to get him on a “$0 or $2,000 distraction that kept him from picking up a $50,000 check.”
This is EXACTLY what I'm always talking about in our industry!
Far too many people get caught up frittering away all their time and energy on nickel and dime project work because clients want to "sample" their services and make them audition.
But how long is that $50 or $100 or even $500 going to last you? It might buy dinner that week, but it does nothing to create long-term, ongoing, sustainable cashflow.
It's gone and you're right back on the hamster wheel having to chase down your next meal, before you're even done with the work in front of you.
It is a completely exhausting existence!
I totally understand why this happens, though.It's tough building a business that earns you the kind of income you can actually live on.
When you're new, you don't know what works and what will just keep you stuck where you are earning poorly.
You think, if only you are accommodating enough, if you bend over backwards to jump through every hoop a prospect tells you to, surely, eventually, they will commit to your retained monthly services.
In fact, it's quite the opposite. It rarely ever happens like that. All you're doing is showing them they DON'T have to commit to anything.
That like a trained monkey, you'll keep straining for that carrot on a stick they keep dangling beyond your reach.
This is also a terrible precedent in your business because you've allowed them to set a tone of disrespect for the relationship and a devaluing of you as a professional, which never ends well. We've got an entire industry of working poor because of this dynamic!

How the Class Will Be Delivered
We'll be using webconferencing software so that you can view my screen as we go through the course and also see who your fellow students are. This will be a highly interactive class where I'll be presenting learning information and also asking you questions and participating together as a group.
Don't worry—you don't need any special software; it's provided by my training platform. You'll be given all the details for attending once you're signed up. Any course materials and handouts will be provided at the time of the class.
This class will be recorded so afterward, you'll get your own copy of the video presentation and Q&A session that you can refer back to whenever you need a refresher on any of the info.

Questions About the Class
Q. I have a schedule conflict and am not able to attend this training. Will you be offering it again in the future?
It's possible that I may offer this class again in the future. I just couldn't tell you when for sure. However, the DIY version of this class will be offered in the ACA Success Store once it's completed.
Q. I'm not able to attend the live class. Will the recording be made available for sale afterward?
If you are not able to attend the live class, you will receive the DIY version once it's completed and uploaded to the ACA Success Store.
Q. If I can't attend, will my registration be refunded?
I want warm, committed bodies live in the class who are eager and ready to participate, ask questions and get the most from the learning experience. My wish is for you to attend the live sessions because you're going to get so much more out it and have the opportunity to get your questions personally answered. If there is any question as to whether you are able to attend or not, you should probably wait for the DIY version to hit the ACA Success Store.
Q. What is the benefit of taking the live class over the DIY self-study version?
Anytime you take a live class, you're going to get a lot more in-depth and personalized information because of the interaction and live dynamic of the group questions, etc. Classes help you make more sense of the information that you might have read, but not understood completely.
